Anna Adams

Founder & Executive Director

Anna has been serving international students at the University of Memphis for over a decade. Anna was born & raised in Memphis, TN and graduated from The University of Memphis with a bachelors in Arts & Science. Anna is married to Lee & they have 4 children: Amelia, Eleanor, Isabelle & Liam. She is an active member at The Avenue Community Church.

Our Story

Imagine a table with people from various cultures, languages, ages, & races all sharing a meal together in perfect harmony.

Global Friends Memphis was birthed in 2015 out of the passion to see this vision become a reality. We wanted to see a space where Americans & internationals gathered together to deepen their friendships, experiences & faith.

This college ministry has gone through some changes, such as COVID-19, staff turnover & volunteer turnover. However, we are convinced that this is the work God is calling us to do – to change the world through this amazing international community in our city.

Our Board

Global Friends Memphis is under the organizational umbrella of Memphis Leadership Foundation. We adhere to their board of directors. However, to run this organization we have an advisory board of directors who help guide & assist with big decisions the Executive Director faces on a daily basis.

Joanna Göbel

From California, she has volunteered for years with us & still spends time with students. Joanna is a working mom-of-3 who specializes in graphic design. Her art will blow you away! Joanna is an active member at Renewal Church.

Thomas Mathwig

From Virginia, Thomas has been faithfully volunteering with GFM for 2 years. He is an amazing drummer for The Avenue Community Church & serves there faithfully. Thomas is an engineer at Milwaukee Tool.

Andre McIntyre

From St. Louis, MO, Andre served as the Director at BluePrint Supply Chain. He is also an active member at The Avenue Community Church. His family & The Adams have become like family over the past few years. Andre has led some new initiatives at his previous work that has propelled us financially.

Julie Ninan

From New York, this caring & hardworking mom-of-3 serves her family well. Julie & her husband, George are faithful members at New Heights Memphis Church & she is excited to share her gift of hospitality & administration in this new role.
